Example Dream Vacation Plan

My Dream Vacation to Australia

Introduction:
Next summer, I am going to visit Australia for three weeks. I have always been fascinated by Australian wildlife and the beautiful landscapes. I am going to travel during July because it will be winter there, but the temperatures will still be mild in many parts of the country.

Transportation:
I am going to fly from my country to Sydney, which will take about 20 hours with one stopover. In Australia, I will rent a car to explore the East Coast. I will also take a domestic flight from Sydney to Melbourne to save time.

Accommodation:
I am going to stay in different places. For the first five days, I will stay in a hotel in Sydney. Then, I am going to book hostels in smaller towns along the coast. For a special experience, I will spend two nights in an eco-lodge near the Great Barrier Reef.

Activities:
In Sydney, I will visit the famous Opera House and take a ferry to see the harbour bridge from the water. I am going to spend three days exploring the Great Barrier Reef, where I will go snorkeling to see colorful fish and coral. I will also visit a wildlife sanctuary to see kangaroos and koalas up close. In Melbourne, I am going to attend an Australian football match because I want to experience local sports culture.

Food:
I will try traditional Australian foods like vegemite on toast for breakfast. I am going to have a barbecue on the beach and taste kangaroo steak, which is a popular meat in Australia. I will also visit the Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne to try fresh seafood and local fruits.

Souvenirs:
I am going to buy a small boomerang as a souvenir. I will also take lots of photographs, especially of Australian animals. I am going to collect some seashells from the beaches I visit, and I will buy a didgeridoo music CD to remember the sounds of Australia.

Conclusion:
This will be my dream vacation because I will see amazing natural wonders and wildlife that don’t exist in my country. I am going to learn about Aboriginal culture and history, and I will practice my English with native speakers. I believe this trip will be an unforgettable adventure that will create memories for a lifetime.

Extension Activities

  1. Travel Brochure: Create a simple illustrated brochure for your chosen destination.
  2. Dialogue Writing: Write a conversation between yourself and a local person at your destination.
  3. Video Presentation: Record a short video presenting your dream vacation plans.
  4. Cost Research: Find real prices for flights, hotels, and attractions to create a realistic budget.
  5. Language Differences: Research any specific English words or expressions unique to your chosen country.

Future Tense Review

Remember the difference between these future forms:

  • “Going to” is used for:
    • Plans and intentions decided before speaking: “I am going to visit the museum on Tuesday.”
    • Predictions based on present evidence: “Look at those clouds. It’s going to rain.”
  • “Will” is used for:
    • Predictions about the future: “I think the weather will be nice tomorrow.”
    • Spontaneous decisions made at the moment of speaking: “That bag looks heavy. I’ll help you carry it.”
    • Promises: “I will bring you a souvenir from my trip.”

Self-Assessment Checklist

After completing your dream vacation plan, review your work using this checklist:

  • Did I use “going to” correctly for pre-made plans?
  • Did I use “will” correctly for predictions and spontaneous decisions?
  • Did I include specific details about real places?
  • Did I organize my writing into clear sections?
  • Did I use varied and interesting travel vocabulary?
  • Did I explain why this would be my dream vacation?

Travel Language Tips

  • Use specific place names rather than general terms (Big Ben instead of “a clock tower”)
  • Include sensory details (what you will see, hear, taste, smell, and feel)
  • Vary your verbs (instead of just “visit,” use explore, discover, experience, etc.)
  • Learn the correct prepositions for places (in London, at the beach, on the island)
  • Use sequencing words to organize your itinerary (first, next, later, finally)

Real-World Applications

This skill is useful for:

  • Planning actual future travel
  • Writing emails to tour operators or accommodations
  • Creating travel itineraries
  • Discussing travel plans with English-speaking friends
  • Preparing for travel-related situations like booking hotels or tours

Remember that planning a dream vacation combines practical language skills with creativity and personal interests. Even if you can’t travel to these places right now, researching and writing about them improves your English while allowing you to explore the world from home!
